Our client, a Japan-based Finance Leasing Company is looking to fill the position of Assistant Manager (Leasing & Financing) for their office in Singapore. This position is responsible for market growths in ASEAN and Oceania region. The position will originate and lead the execution of new business opportunities in Asset-based Leasing & Financing, and Corporate Financing. Broad responsibilities include evaluation of deal structures, asset and credit considerations for transactions to maintain portfolio risk and return objectives.
The Role
Deal Origination:
•Conduct marketing activities, identifying and sourcing leasing opportunities that conform to company’s business strategy and credit policies. Develop a strong understanding of the clients' financial goals and objectives.
•Recommend a financial solution that is appropriate for the client.
•Understand market dynamics and competitive landscape to appropriately structure and price a lease proposal.
•Provide quantitative and qualitative analysis to evaluate transactions through the assessment of credit, market/industry, asset and structural risks. Support of financial analysis, risk analysis and recommendations will be a priority.
•Internal approvals (credit, legal, compliance and etc).
•Coordination and collaboration with internal coverage teams.
•Client negotiation and closing process.
Portfolio Management:
•Prepare and support detailed credit application and lead internal approval process for identifiedtransactions. Perform due diligence, coordinating with internal and external resources for asset, legal or other functional assessments.
•Perform annual/periodic reviews and maintain oversight of covenant compliance as well as compliance with broader internal policies.
•Maintain knowledge of industries and products, with primary focus on the risk, accounting and tax regulations, especially for cross-border transactions.
Deal Support:
•Work with business lines/product groups to identify and execute prospective transactions. Identify structural and collateral risks and mitigants in prospective transactions and recommend/enhance structuring of deals and covenant in line with policies and procedures.
•Advise account officers on risk issues/terms and conditions to create a best possible deal with a goal of maximizing profit and minimizing overall risks.
•Review of Conditions Precedent, bilateral & syndication agreements and security agreements.
•Assist with other special projects as requested in support of department objectives.
Requirements
•Degree holder
•Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills.
•Interpersonal and time management skills are essential, as is a strong aptitude for understanding and managing operational risks that impact the credit function.
•Ability to think critically, solve problems, make decisions, and build trust across the organization.
•Negotiation skills.
•Ability to independently manage a portfolio of customers in various countries.
•Adequate knowledge of credit/ financial analysis, as well as financial markets.
•Ongoing monitoring of market news/events and industry developments that may impact the credit quality of the portfolio, and potential ad-hoc in-depth analysis of credit related issues that arise.
•Collaborate with team members to share best practices and market insight to effectively manage the portfolio as a team.
•Leadership, experience and ability to lead transactions both internally and externally (with clients and key industry participants).
